Stop explaining roundabouts with your hands.

Lay out the exact junction, roundabout or manoeuvre your learner struggled with on the Road Minds interactive lesson board. Move the cars and talk through each decision together while you’re safely parked.

Why the board works

Some things are easier to show than to say.

Describing a roundabout from the driver’s seat only goes so far. The board puts the road in front of your learner, so you can both see the same thing.

01 · SEE IT FROM ABOVE

For learners who can’t picture it

Open a ready-made layout, from T-junctions and crossroads to single-lane and two-lane roundabouts, so your learner sees the road from above instead of trying to imagine it.

02 · DEBRIEF STRAIGHT AWAY

Go over a mistake while it’s fresh

Pull in, put the cars back where they were and circle the hazard with Pen. Turn cars 15° at a time and switch on indicators, hazards and brake lights to show what each driver was doing.

03 · REHEARSE FIRST

Calmer before going round for real

Show me steps through the layout one move at a time, so a nervous learner can see what happens at each stage before they drive it.

04 · THEIR OWN SITUATION

Let visual learners do it themselves

In Free practice or the open practice area, set up the road your learner just drove, then hand over the phone so they can move the car and show you what they’d do.

The interactive lesson board

The road, the cars and every decision, in your hand.

11 ready-made layouts, plus an open practice area for anything else. Each layout starts with your learner’s car, with L plates, in a sensible starting position.

The lesson board's Choose a layout screen: bay parking, parallel parking, T-junction, crossroads, meeting traffic, moving off and stopping, single-lane and two-lane roundabouts, dual carriageway, joining and leaving a dual carriageway, and an open practice area

SHOW ME AND FREE PRACTICE

Walk through it step by step, or set it up your way.

Use Show me to step through a ready-made layout one move at a time. Switch to Free practice to drag the cars into the positions your learner actually met.

  • Drag any car, and turn it 15° at a time
  • Add up to 10 cars, remove them, and undo a move
  • Indicators, hazards, brake and reverse lights on the selected car
  • Pen: circle a hazard or sketch a line with your finger, then clear it with one tap
  • Reset to the starting position and go again
